Delta IV Heavy rocket launch set for Wednesday

The Friday launch of the United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket is expected to launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County has been canceled. United Launch Alliance says the crew will try again on Saturday.

According to the ULA, Saturday’s launch is scheduled for 8:06 p.m. PT. ULA officials say the forecast shows a 60 percent chance of favorable weather conditions for launch.
The launch countdown was placed on hold Friday afternoon while a special crew was called to the launch pad to troubleshoot an issue with the hold fire circuitry, according to ULA.
This would have marked the ULA’s second launch in four months. This launch will carry a “national security payload designed, built and operated by the National Reconnaissance Office.

It was around this time last year when the Coachella Valley was surprised by a Space X Rocket launched from the Vandenberg Air Force Base that lit up the skies.

Watch: Space X rocket launch visible throughout Coachella Valley
Valley skies were lit up once again in October when Space X launched a Falcon 9 rocket and satellite into orbit.
The flight was so loud due to sonic booms that the Air Force officials issued a warning to residents in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. No such warnings have been issued for the Delta IV.
