Border Patrol finds $10K worth of black tar heroin hidden in woman’s bra
Border Patrol agents stationed at the Highway 86 Checkpoint discovered over $10,000 worth of black tar heroin hidden in a woman’s brassiere.
According to the El Centro Sector Border Patrol, Sunday at around 8:30 a.m., a 45-year-old woman accompanied by a 29-year-old male passenger approached the checkpoint. A canine detection unit alerted agents to the vehicle and it was sent to secondary inspection.
During the secondary inspection, agents said they found a package hidden in the woman’s bra. Agents determined the content in the package was consistent with the characteristics of black tar heroin.
The total weight of the black tar heroin discovered was 1.13 pounds, with an estimated street value of $10,170, according to a news release by border patrol.
The female driver and male passenger were both United States citizens and both were turned over to the Border Crime Suppression Team.
In the last fiscal year, El Centro Sector agents seized more than 50 pounds of heroin, valued more than $1 million.
