Three suspects arrested for gym burglary spree

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries committed at local gyms.

32-year-old Victoria Gonzalez, 36-year-old Crystal Jant, and 51-year-old Randy Stalling were arrested Thursday when Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant at a residence on the 500 block of 5th Street in Banning. All three suspects are Banning residents.

The warrant was issued following an investigation by deputies assigned to the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station’s Business District Team and Special Enforcement Team. The investigation revealed that Gonzalez, Jant, and Stalling worked together to burglarize a series of area gyms.

The suspects would pose as members of the gym during business hours, then enter “the women’s locker rooms, cut the locks, stole property from inside, and stole property from the victim’s vehicle’s,” according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department news release. The checks and credit cards of the victims would then be used at local businesses in the area of the gym.

The names of the businesses targeted in the spree have not been specified.

The suspects were arrested for burglary, identity theft, and possession of a controlled substance. They were transported and booked into Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

Anyone with information relating to this case is urged to contact Deputy Troyer at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station at 760-836-1696.
