Hiker rescued by helicopter after Thermal mishap

Emergency crews rescued a hiker with a lower extremity injury from an “inaccessible” area of Ladder Canyon Trail in Thermal Sunday afternoon.

16 CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters responded before 1:30 p.m. Sunday, hiking to the patient as two CHP helicopters were brought in to assist with the extraction.

After two hours, a rescue group made contact and provided advance life support care. The patient was then loaded onto one of the helicopters and flown to an ambulance for further care and transport.

No word at this time on the injured hiker’s condition. Stay with News Channel 3 for updates as more information becomes available.
