Suspect in Aug. 2016 homicide arrested
Police have arrested a suspect in an August 2016 homicide that occurred in Indio. News Channel 3 was able to confirm this with the mother of the victim.
According jail records, Marcos Cruz Gaeta, 38, was arrested Friday at 12:56 p.m. near the intersection of Date Palm Drive and Ramon Road in Cathedral City.

Authorities said Gaeta was armed with a loaded handgun but was safely arrested by a task force of law enforcement agencies, including Indio, Hemet, Palm Springs, Corona and Beaumont police.
Authorities identify Indio woman shot and killed Sunday night
The mother of the victim confirms Gaeta was wanted for the killing of her daughter, Jamie Maher , 30, on the night of August 28, 2016. Officers had found Maher at a home on the 82300 block of Santa Rosa Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds.
“Where Jamie is, she doesn’t need justice, but our family needs justice and the community needs justice,” said Maher’s mother, Valerie Silveira. “I am so grateful to the Indio Police Department for everything they’ve done for us and how hard they’ve worked to bring us justice.”
The Riverside County District Attorney’s office also said Gaeta was suspected of committing another murder in Avondale, Arizona, though no other details were provided.
We looked into jail records that revealed Gaeta has been booked into the Indio Jail on multiple charges, including 1st-degree murder. He is being held on no bail and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
