Elderly woman injured in home invasion robbery

Police are looking for a man accused of injuring an elderly woman during a home invasion robbery in Palm Springs.

According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the robbery occurred in the 300 Block of E. Stevens Road at around 4:40 p.m. Officers arrived and found a woman in her 60s suffering from injuries sustained during the robbery. Neighbors told News Channel 3’s Jake Ingrassia the woman was tied up and beaten.

PSPD Captain Mike Kovaleff said the extent of her injuries is unknown at this time but she is is stable condition.

The suspect had fled the area before officers arrived. Officers say the woman described the suspect as “a black male adult.” Kovaleff said the suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was described as wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
