PSPD: One still wanted for shooting outside Palm Springs bar
Palm Springs Police are still looking for a shooting suspect after violence at Toucan’s Tiki Lounge in Palm Springs early Sunday morning.
Officers say at around 1:50 a.m., a fight broke out inside the bar. Employees moved people outside in which subsequently a shooting occurred outside the bar in the parking lot.
Officers say two people were hit in the low extremities with non-life threatening injuries. No one was taken into custody.
Investigators are looking for a shooting suspect described as a Hispanic male, between the ages to 20 to 30, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black hat, and black sweatpants, with tattoos on his neck.
Multiple Palm Springs police cars were seen outside of the gay bar and nightclub with officers combing the scene outside before clearing out.
In a viewer-submitted video, patrons inside the nightclub could be seen ducking under tables in a chaotic scene. The viewer says a fight, followed by a shooting occurred.
The nightclub owner when contacted, declined to comment due to the ongoing investigation.
The shooting surprised neighbors at a nearby apartment complex.
“I was surprised. Toucan’s is a great place. We’ve never heard of any real issues there. This is a real safe area,” James Hollenbeck said.
“I was dumfounded. I was shocked. You don’t think it’s going to happen in your own neighborhood as we all often say,” Steve Egan said.
