Community remembers valley philanthropist Denise DuBarry Hay
Friends and family are remembering the life and legacy of valley philanthropist, entrepreneur, actress, wife, and mother, Denise DuBarry Hay.
A family friend confirmed that she passed away at a hospital in Los Angeles, at the age of 63.
Those who knew DuBarry shared with News Channel 3 how kind, selfless and remarkable she was on Sunday.
“If you had a dream she just championed you making that dream happen ,” said Kim Waltrip .
“She always applauded everyone’s efforts to build the dream life that they wanted and if she could help in any way she would,” said Leanna Bonamici , President of Palm Springs Women in Film and Television.
DuBarry Hay co-founded Thane International with her husband Billy Hay in 1990 and was also a member of Palm Springs Women in Film and Television, serving as the group’s president and a board member for some time.
” She helped other women embody the art of being a mother being a wife and creating a global business…she did it magnificently…as she did everything. We are going to miss her, ” said Bonamici .
DuBarry was also passionate about health and wellness — she was the owner of Bikram yoga and “Wildest Greens in Palm Desert.” The general manager promised DuBarry’s commitment to health would live on through the restaurant.
“This restaurant was her legacy her dream…she was always looking to have people live healthier and eat healthier…she will not be forgotten,” said Jacek Glesmann , General Manager , Wildest Greens.
