Tournament play kicks off at ANA Inspiration

The world’s best in women’s golf are in town ready to compete for a major title as the ANA Inspiration kicks off Thursday at the Mission Hills Country Club where the tournament has been held for the past 47 years.

A total of 112 players will be duking it out on the course for the very first major in women’s golf and get the chance to hop into Poppie’s Pond.

Over the last few years, we have seen some exciting finishes with the tournament ending in a playoff 3 times in the past four years, including last year’s Monday final the first time in tournament history.

That’s where underdog Pernilla Lindberg of Sweden was able to defeat Inbee Park of South Korea who’s won multiple major titles.

Top-ranked Americans in the field are world number 8 Nelly Korda and world number 9 Lexi Thompson, who no doubt will have lots of fan support after she lost two years ago after a controversial penalty over a rules infraction.

First round action will tee off at 7:15 Thursday morning with the first golfers and fans will be able to enter the gates starting at 6:45 a.m.
