Climber rescued after 40 foot fall in Joshua Tree

A Minnesota man was rescued Wednesday after falling 40 feet while climbing in Joshua Tree National Park, according to a National Park Service news release.

The man, who is in his 40’s, reportedly feel while climbing in the Quail Springs area of the park. A third party called 911 to report the climbing accident; 911 personnel then contacted park rangers.

The man was rescued from the trail using a Riverside County Sherif’s Department helicopter. He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries. His condition is not known at this time.

Last April, a legally blind hiker was rescued after going missing in the area of Qual Springs in Joshua Tree National Park.
