First 2019 Imperial County West Nile death confirmed

Imperial County has reported its first West Nile Virus-caused death in 2019.

The death was confirmed by Imperial County Public Health Department information officer Maria Peinado.

A news release is forthcoming, expected to be released at 4 PM , according to Peinado.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

In June, the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District referred to the current presence of the virus in the valley as ” unprecedented ” .
