Roof collapses during house fire in La Quinta

Firefighters are battling a house fire in La Quinta Thursday afternoon.

According to Cal Fire, the fire was first reported at 5:35 p.m. in the area of Royal St George and Tiburon Drive inside PGA West Greg Norman Resort Course.

Firefighters reported a single-story family dwelling was well-involved in fire when they arrived at the scene. The residence is approximately 3,500 square feet with fire bursting out of the roof of the garage, according to Cal Fire.

A Cal Fire representative wrote that the roof of the garage ended up collapsing. All firefighters were able to get out in time and are accounted for.

Firefighters are now focusing on the exterior of the building.
