29 Palms grandmother arrested for injuring 8-month-old baby

A grandmother in Twentynine Palms was arrested after being accused of injuring her 8-month-old granddaughter.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, on July 24, the 8-month-old baby was brought to the Loma Linda University Medical Center by family members for an X-ray exam. During the exam, forensic pediatricians found a fracture in the baby’s right arm. Pediatricians determined the injury was consistent with suspected child abuse.

SBCSD investigators determined the injury occurred in Twentynine Palms while the baby was in the care of Felicia Howard, 49, the paternal grandmother.

Howard was arrested on July 25 after an extensive investigation by detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Crimes Against Children Division, the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station, and Forensic Pediatricians from LLUMC.

According to SBCSD, Howard was booked at Central Detention Center for Willful Cruelty to a Child. She is not currently listed in jail records.
