Neighbors Gather For National Night Out Parties

DESERT HOT SPRINGS – Thousands of people in the Coachella Valleyare vowing to fight crime in their neighborhoodsas part of the National Night Out.

From Indio to Desert Hot Springs, neighbors spent the night getting to know their neighbors in an effort to fight crime.Some residents ofthe Arroyo de Paz Apartmentsin Desert Hot Springs don’t know their neighbors.Thomas Moreno admits he doesn’t even know his next door neighbors.

Children were able to meet police officers and firemen.A lot of the parties, like the one in Cathedral City, hadhot dogs and snacks.Officers emphasized the importance of knowing your neighbors, being proactive and reporting suspicious activity as soon as you notice it.
