Cathedral City Residents Want Speeding Stopped In Neighborhood

CATHEDRAL CITY – Some Cathedral City residents are asking police to crack down against speeding motorists. They fear drivers might hurt their children.

The Maravilla Avenue neighborhood is north of Ramon Road. Neighbors say cars speed along their street at more than 50 miles an hour, twice the 25 mile an hour speed limit.

There was a hit and run crash on the street three weeks ago, and other motorists have nearly struck children.

Residents say they’ve asked city hall for help but no one’s listening.

Police say they’re willing to help.

“I get several calls a week about speeders in a certain area,” CCPD Sgt. Carl Worlford said. “We’ll set designated areas and work the area for speeders.”

Cathedral City Police say you can also call the traffic sergeant’s office if you have concerns about city streets.
