Taxi Cab Driver Robbed, Carjacked At Gunpoint By Passenger

INDIO – A taxi cab driver was not hurt after a man he picked up for a fare pulled a gun on him and demanded cash and the cab from the driver, police said.

The suspect was picked up at around 8 Tuesday morning near Miles Avenue and Monroe. The driver took the suspect to the 43-900 block of Campo Place, where the suspect pulled a gun on the driver.

The driver was kicked out of the cab and the suspect drove off. The cab was later recovered at Fantasy Springs Casino.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man of medium build, 20 to 30 years old. He was last seen wearing a brown t-shirt and white and brown checkered shorts.
