Tae Kwon Do School Makes Statement After Instructor’s Arrest

Woolston Tae Kwon Do is an organization that was conceived on the premise of helping people in the community. This has never been a business designed to make a profit. Everyone works on a volunteer basis and is not compensated monetarily for their efforts.

First of all, we are shocked to hear of the events that have unfolded over the past week.

We have never had an allegation of misconduct against this gentleman or any other member of our staff. Our students’ safety and well-being has always been a top priority. Our goal is to make a positive difference in our students’ lives.

These are serious allegations and we feel strongly for any victim of such crimes. However it is important to bear in mind that these are only allegations at this point. No substantial evidence that has been presented and the investigation still pending. Often times these allegations come from malicious motivations and are often found to be false. We set a dangerous precedent when we jump to conclusions like many in the media have done in this case.

Mr. Lavigne has been a part of the studio for the past 14 years as a student and an instructor and he has never had any previous allegations or suspicions of misconduct. In our experience, Mr. Lavigne has always demonstrated the utmost level of character and professionalism. He has been dedicated to having a positive impact on many youth within the community for many years. It is our belief that these allegations are suspect. Currently, he is on a leave of absence to the disappointment of many of our students and their parents.

The person making these allegations is not and has never been a student of the studio (in fact, she does not live in the county or in any reasonable proximity of the studio). This person is a relative of Mr. Lavigne’s girlfriend (who is at present standing behind his innocence).
