Rain And Snow Hit The Valley And The High Desert Overnight

PALM DESERT – The National Weather service is keeping a close eye on the skies around the Coachella Valley and the surrounding mountains overnight.

As News Channel 3’s First Alert Forecast Team first predicted, this stormhas arrived this afternoon, bringing with it cold rain and cooler weather.

Snow levels will drop to 4,500-5,000 feet, and that could spell snow for the high desert, affecting travel on Highway 62 and the Cajon Pass.

That has prompted a Winter Weather Advisory for the high desert and surrounding mountains until through tomorrow.

A Winter WeatherWarning is now in effect for the Riverside and San Bernardino Mountains.

The National Weather Service is bracing for snow amountsof 4 to 5 inches in the San Bernardino Mountains and possibly the high desert areas.

On the valley floor, we could see thunderstorms as the storm pushes through, with some periods of heavy rain, hail, and the possibility of funnel clouds.

Wednesday, showers and snow will continue, and taper off as the day progresses.
