Patients Wait For Medical Marijuana Counters To Open

PALM SPRINGS – Medical marijuana users in Palm Springs are still waiting for twodispensaries to openafter the City Council approved them last month.

Thedispensaries that got the green light are Cannahelp and Desert Organic Solutions.They beat out 9 other applicants to operate legally out of industrial tracks within city limits.

However, neither dispensary has opened yet while the city makes sure they are meeting the City Council’s conditions of approval for a permit.

Palm SpringsPlanning DirectorCraigEwing explains: “Those include any number of things from revisions to by-laws to security systems at the locations and we’ve been working through them with the police department, city attorney’s office and the planning department to review their response to those conditions to see if they comply.”

Cannahelp is hoping to be serving patients as soon as Friday.

Unable to acquire a lease,Desert Organic Solutions has proposed a location across the street from their original proposed location in NorthPalm Springs.

The City Council is expected to vote on the move during Wednesdays council meeting.
