Alice In Wonderland Tops Box Office This Weekend

LOS ANGELES – “Alice in Wonderland” shattered records for the normally-sleepy midwinter box office, and is expected to open with $116.3 million in North American receipts, Hollywood.com estimated today.

The Disney film shattered numerous records, including the biggest 3-D opening of all time, biggest IMAX opening of all time, he said. It is expected to gross $210.3 million worldwide.

Opening in second place was “Brooklyn’s Finest” from Overture, with $13.5 million in estimated sales.

Third place went to “Shutter Island” from Paramount, with $13.3 million in estimated sales this weekend, and a running total of $95.8 million over three weeks.
