Budget Problems Hit Palm Springs Library

The Palm Springs Public Library will be open fewer hours and no longer offer passport services as part of an effort to reduce the city’s projected $7.7 million deficit.

The library, located at 300 S. Sunrise Way, will open an hour later and close an hour earlier starting May 25, said city spokeswoman Amy Blaisdell.

The new hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. The library will continue to be closed Sunday and Monday.

Additionally, the library will no longer process applications for U.S. passports, according to Blaisdell. Instead, residents can contact the post office at 64117 Dillon Road for passport services.

Application forms for passports will still be available for pickup at the library, Blaisdell said.
