Deputy Loses Control Of Patrol Car, Crashes In Thousand Palms

A Riverside County Sheriff patrol car was involved in an a crash, this afternoon, in Thousand Palms.

The accident happened around 1:30pm today on Thousand Palms Canyon Road, between North Ramon and Dillon Road. Authorities say the deputy was trying to negotiate a curve when he lost control, and ran off the road.

Cal Fire was called in to cut the deputy from the wreckage. He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Southbound Thousand Palms Canyon Road was shut down for about 30 minutes while the car and deputy were recovered, and the scene cleaned up.
