BB Sniper Wreaks Havoc On Interstate 10 In Inland Empire

California Highway Patrol officers today sought a sniper with a pellet gun believed responsible for shooting out the windows of dozens of cars on three Inland Empire freeways.

CHP Officer Andrew Thompson told KTLA that the sniper might be driving the freeway near his targets, which have been reported on the Riverside (215), Ontario (15) and San Bernardino (10) freeways over the last three weeks.

No one has been injured in the seemingly random attacks, but car windows have been shattered by “an unknown projectile — probably a BB or pellet,” Thompson told the news station.

Shootings have occurred at various times of day along the 15 Freeway between the Angeles Crest (138) Freeway to Sierra Avenue and on the 10 and 215 freeways through Colton.

CHP patrols have been stepped up in response to the shootings and authorities asked anyone with information to call the CHP’s Riverside office at (909) 383-4247.
