First Alert Weather Alert: Expires at 2AM Thursday

A Wind Advisory now covers the entire Coachella Valley, and will be in effect until 2:00 a.m. Thursday.

Winds reached 40+ MPH on the valley floor Tuesday afternoon, meeting the criteria for a First Alert Weather Alert Day. Similar conditions have been felt at times today, but especially in the evening hours (as was the case Tuesday).

Here's a look at what the First Alert Weather Team is seeing for Thursday morning. The strongest gusts are anticipated to occur along I-10 but remain below First Alert Weather Alert Day criteria.

South Coast Air Quality Management District continues a Windblown Dust Advisory as gusty winds and blowing dust may lower visibility. As of 10:00 p.m., readings were in the "Moderate" range:

A trough of low pressure is responsible for the westerly winds across the mountain and desert communities. This system will continue to provide wind and cooler temperatures into Thursday.

A gradual warming will take place through the final days of the workweek, continuing into the weekend.
