Drive-by Shooting in Palm Springs

Two suspects in a possibly gang-related, drive-by shooting in which three people escaped injury at a mobile home park in Palm Springs were at large Sunday, police said.

The shooting was reported at 9:25 p.m. Saturday at the Santiago Mobile Home Park at 1500 E. San Rafael Drive, said Palm Springs police Sgt. Troy Castillo.

When police arrived, they found a Mercedes-Benz with several bullet holes, he said.

The two males and a female told police they were getting out of the car when two people rolled up in a vehicle and began shooting.

They said they ran for cover and the shooters fled. No one was injured, Castillo said.

The names of the victims were withheld for their safety. Castillo said the shooting is being treated as possibly gang-related.

Police are looking for a dark colored, four-door compact car occupied by at least two people, Castillo said.

Anyone with more information on the shooting was asked to call Palm Springs police at (760) 323-8115.
