Milanovich Re-Elected As Agua Caliente Tribal Chairman
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians announced tribal council election results on Wednesday and named Richard Milanovich as chairman of the tribe for what would have been his 15th term.
Milanovich, 68, died last month after a long fight with cancer.
According to the tribe’s by-laws, which are filed with the U.S. Department of the Interior, elections for tribal council, which include the chairman position, were held March 15 — four days after his death.
Tribal Council Vice Chairman Jeff L. Grubbe will now act as Chairman, according to a tribal news release.
Tribal council member Anthony Andreas III was re-elected to a third consecutive term in office.
Returning to the council is Jessica Norte who was elected as a tribal council member after having served in various committee and elected positions over the years.
Vincent Gonzales III, Secretary/Treasurer, continues in his elected term, as well.
