Missing Southland Girl Found At Friend’s Home
A 10-year-old girl reported missing Friday in the Echo Park area was found today, safe and sound at a friend’s house, a police sergeant said.
Yaiza Cuevas, who was last seen at Logan Elementary School at 1711 Montana St. about 3:30 p.m. Friday, was found today about 4:45 a.m. said Los Angeles police Sgt. Michael Mabie of the Rampart station. “She was at a friend’s house for a sleepover and someone forgot to tell her Mom,” Mabie said. “She (Cuevas) told the babysitter and apparently the babysitter didn’t tell her Mom.” The child had apparently told the babysitter who came to pick up that a friend of her mother would be giving her a ride home from an after-school music class that ended at 6 p.m. Friday, police said. About 7 p.m., the girl’s mother went to the babysitter’s to pick up her daughters and learned that Yaiza had not been picked up. After being unable to find her back at home, and unaware of the slumber party, the mom reported Yaiza missing to officers at the Rampart Station just west of downtown about 10 p.m. Friday.
