Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow to wrap up Stagecoach Country Music Festival

Coachella’s country cousin will go out with a bang today, featuring flat-picking legend Roy Clark, country pop star Martina McBride, Kenny Rogers, Sheryl Crow and headliner Brad Paisley.
Crow, 50, should be limbered up for her 7:15 p.m. performance. Just yesterday, she ran her first half-marathon in Nashville, finishing in 1:59, according to published reports.
Clark, 79, is a country music icon who, at age 14, cut his teeth on guitars, mandolins and banjos. But the County Music Hall-of-Famer is probably best known as host of the long-running television show “Hee Haw” (1969-1992).
He made his way into TV by appearing regularly on Jimmy Dean’s show in Washington, D.C., in the 1950s and would eventually make guest appearances of
dozens of shows including “The Beverly Hillbillies.” Clark is set to be on the Palomino Stage at 5:30 p.m.
Martina McBride, a top-selling crossover artist nicknamed the “Celine Dion of country music” for her soprano range, is set to perform on the Mane Stage at 5:45 p.m.
Rogers follows Clark on the Palomino Stage at 6:45 p.m. The 73-year-old Texan boasts some 120 hit singles, including the 1978 mega-hit “The Gambler,” which was on top-selling album of the same name.
All together, 16 acts are set to perform on three stages, wrapping up with Crow and Paisley.
Among the more unusual draws Saturday was Old Man Markley, a punk-bluegrass fusion band out of the San Fernando Valley.
Chris Isaak got friendly with the crowd Saturday, stepping off the Palomino Stage during his performance to rub shoulders with the crowd.
The extended festival, three days instead of two this year, sold out in January. The daily crowd has been estimated at 55,000, considerably smaller than the roughly 85,000 people at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival the past two weekends.
Temperatures are forecast to top out in the upper 90s today. Increased traffic in and around Indio and La Quinta is expected, Indio human resources manager Jim Curtis said.
The new pickup and dropoff point for taxis and others this year will be at Avenue 52 and Madison Street.
Closed roads include:
— Avenue 49 between Hjorth Street and Monroe Street;
— Avenue 50 between Madison Street and Jackson Street;
— Hjorth between avenues 49 and 50; and
— Madison between avenues 49 and 52. Unlike previous years, no
pedestrians will be allowed on Monroe and Madison streets between avenues 49
and 52, Curtis said.
