Coachella Fest 2013 tickets on sale this week, payment plan offered

Riding the coattails of a weekend that saw Tupac Shakur return to the stage as a hologram, producers of Coachella Fest announced on Monday preliminary details of their 2013 event in Indio.

“We are excited to announce Coachella 2013 will again be held over two consecutive weekends,” their website read in a much-anticipated 10 a.m. announcement.

The event will take over the Empire Polo Ground April 12-14 and April 19-21, 2013.

Passes to the event will go on sale Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 10 a.m. and the sale will last 7 days.

In the past, the coveted wristbands that allowed festival-goers to enter the Empire Polo Grounds have sold for $350.

This year, the price remains the same, but organizers have introduced a payment plan, similar to the Stage Coach Music Festival, to help those who couldn’t afford it pay in installments. Twenty percent down payment is required at the time of purchase, with seven additional monthly payments due until January 2013.

“This advance sale will be the only opportunity to take advantage of the Coachella Purchase Plan,” the website informed concert-goers. “New for 2013, the price you see is what you pay — prices reflect all fees included.”

Those who miss a payment will lose everything they’ve paid. The rules detail a loss of the deposit and all money paid if payments are not made within a 10-day window.

“This is your responsibility,” the rules read.

General admission ticket sales without the installment option won’t happen until early next year, according to Golden Voice Productions.

The acts for Coachella 2013 won’t be announced until next Spring, so any ticket purchase could be a gamble.
