United scraps SkyWest customer service, 58 could lose jobs in Palm Springs
Workers who staffed the United Airlines customer service counter at Palm Springs International Airport may be let go as the airline moves to a new contractor.
Fifty-eight workers with SkyWest customer service were told they would be given the choice of alternate opportunities in the company if they were available, said SkyWest spokeswoman Marissa Snow.
As for United Express flights, the airline’s 18 daily flights from Palm Springs will still be operated by SkyWest.
“Flights will remain unchanged,” she said. “We will maintain our maintenance base and crew domicile in Palm Springs.”
There was no explanation given by United for dismissing SkyWest from its customer service duties.
