Man Suffers Severe Burns In Rancho Mirage
A man has suffered 2nd and 3rd burns on his legs and feet at an apartment complex in Rancho Mirage. Fire trucks were called to the Desert Island Country Club around 4 pm Friday.
An 89 year old man, lit a match and accidentally caught some papers and clothes on fire. The man tried to put out the fire and caught fire himself.
His wife used a towel to knock the flames down and arriving Deputies used a fire extinguisher to put the fire out.
A helicopter was called in to transport the man to a burn center.
No evacuations were ordered and no other injuries were reported.
