Sex offender accused of targeting teen in Palm Springs

A convicted sex offender is accused of repeatedly annoying and sexually harassing a teenager in Palm Springs.

Police arrested Maurice Alexander Nunz, 44, of Moreno Valley Wednesday evening along the 100 block of South Palm Canyon Drive.

Officers said Nunz made lewd comments and gestures to the alleged victim, a 16 year old. She was not hurt.

Bicycle officers detained Nunz at 7:45 p.m. after the alleged victim pointed him out because he was still in the area.

Officers say he initially gave them several different names, but could not provide any identification. Nunz was later identified by his fingerprints as a sexual offender and a parolee at large.

Nunz was booked into the Riverside County jail in Banning accused of annoying and molesting a child, failing to register as a sex offender and for being a parolee at large.
