State Approves Funds For Duroville Relocation

A plan by Riverside County to move migrant farm workers out of a substandard trailer park in Thermal could soon be moving forward.

Supervisor John Benoit’s office says the California Department of Finance has approved the use of nearly $10 million dollars in bond proceeds, from former redevelopment agency funding, for the completion of the Mountain View Estates.

The county has already spent more than 6 million dollars on the affordable housing development that will have 181 homes.

The new funding clears the way for relocation of most of the families that are now living in the Duroville Mobile Home Park in Thermal, which is under a federal court order to close due to poor housing conditions.
