Heated Hiker Rescued From Bump and Grind Trail

A hiker with heat-related injuries was airlifted to safety near Palm Desert Monday, a county fire department spokeswoman said.

The incident was reported at 11:25 a.m. about two miles up the Bump and Grind Trail. Firefighters were initially going to hike down with the woman then called for a helicopter, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

The woman was flown by helicopter to a local hospital, no word on her condition.
