Victim of Boy Scout Sexual Assault has Ties to Desert

Tonight, a man with ties to the desert is speaking out about the sexual abuse he and his brother suffered at the hands of their scout master, 30-years ago.
Matt Stewart, who according to the Associated Press, lived in Palm Desert and his brother, Tom — who lives in Washington, say they were abused by their scoutmaster at their home, during camping trips and elsewhere.
The Stewarts are angry that the Boy Scouts of America have fought to keep thousands of files confidentia,l that the organization has kept since the early 1900’s.
The Stewarts say releasing the files decades ago would have helped stop the pedophiles.
Matt Stewart says he hopes today’s release of documents shows what he calls the corrupt nature of the Boy Scouts. He says, “I want to make sure that everyone knows that the boyscouts of america has been protecting pedophiles for 100 years and the documentation proves it. Read the documents, find out for yourself, make your own decisions and come to your own conclusions.”
Stewart says he wants to see Congress revoke their charter and remove funding for the Boy Scouts.
He’d like to see the organization apologize to the victims and provide them with financial restitution.
