Police thwart Perris woman’s attempt at kidnapping son
A woman used pepper spray on the estranged father of her 2-year-old son in Perris and kidnapped the child, but was later arrested in Hemet, a sheriff’s sergeant said.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 8:41 p.m. Saturday to an apartment building at 549 N. D St. about vehicle assault.
Witnesses told deputies that Mishay Alls, 23, allegedly pepper sprayed her son’s father and fled with the child in a pickup truck driven by an accomplice. A relative tried to stop Alls from fleeing but was struck by the vehicle and suffered moderate injuries, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Sam Morovich said.
Hemet police officers spotted the getaway truck on West Florida Avenue by 9:15 p.m. Alls and the alleged getaway driver, Amber Cochran, 36, were arrested by sheriff’s deputies for suspicion of kidnapping, assault and conspiracy, Morovich said.
The boy was reunited with his father.
