Fire crews respond to emergency situation at Disneyland

Firefighting units from Disneyland and a single unit from Anaheim were activated Wednesday when smoke began wafting from a storage facility at the park, an Anaheim Fire Department supervisor said.

The fire, in a commercial storage facility on a Disney backlot, was reported at 1:26 a.m. the supervisor said, adding that light smoke was visible at the scene but the Anaheim unit was not needed.

“There was no fire, it was just smoke,” another fire department official said.

The smoke appeared to be coming from a large storage facility at the Disneyland backlot, behind the It’s a Small World Attraction, a news photographer reported from the scene. Two Disney firefighting units were still at the scene, off the 1000 block of West Ball Road, 50 minutes after the first call, he said.
