Sandra Bullock among the winners at the Palm Springs International Film Festival
Actress Sandra Bullock will be honored at the 25th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival in January.
Bullock will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award at the festival’s awards gala Jan. 4 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The festival is Jan. 3-14.
Past recipients of the Desert Palm Achievement Award include Halle Berry, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts and
Michelle Williams. Actor Matthew McConaughey will also receive the award.
“Sandra Bullock is the epitome of cinematic talent and versatility,” festival Chairman Harold Matzner said, adding that she is a “consummate performer who continues to captivate audiences with her artistry.”
Bullock, who won an Academy Award for her role in 2009’s “The Blind Side,” stars with George Clooney in “Gravity,” in which two astronauts are stranded in space when their shuttle is destroyed by debris.
Bullock also starred this year with Melissa McCarthy in the comedy “The Heat,” and has appeared in dramas and romantic comedies, including Oscar-winning “Crash” and “Miss Congeniality.”
