Bedroom fire leaves Indio family homeless

Cal fire made quick work of a fire that began in the bedroom of a home on Palm Street in Indio Monday afternoon.

The fire began just after 12;45 p.m. at a home on the 44-800 block of Palm Street. Cal Fire says the first arriving engine company reported light smoke showing from the home. The fire was contained to one bedroom with smoke and heat damage throughout a 1,000 square foot single-story, single family dwelling. Five (4 adults, 1 child) residents were displaced by the fire.

No injuries were reported. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
