Man in custody after leading police on high-speed chase through Twentynine Palms

A Twentynine Palms man is in custody, accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in the High Desert.

Officers arrested 37-year-old James Daniel Jarrard on Saturday in Twentynine Palms.

Police say they tried to pull him over near El Paseo Drive and Desert Knoll Avenue for a minor equipment violation.

Authorities say he refused to stop and took off, reaching speeds topping 90 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood, eventually ditching his vehicle.

Police later found him hiding in a nearby home.

Jarrard was taken into custody and is being held on $100,000 bail.
