Indio police DUI checkpoint runs sober

The Indio Police Department held a checkpoint Monday night to search for drunk drivers, the good news; nobody was drunk. Officers conducted the checkpoint on Avenue 48 at Solano Avenuefrom 8 p.m. to Midnight.

Police said a total of 324 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and only three drivers were tested for impairment and none of them were arrested.

Officers did write tickets to five people who were either driving without a license or weren’t wearing a seat belt.

The checkpoint was part of an ongoing effort by the Indio Police Department to reduce DUI’s and the traffic deaths they result in. Police want to thank the motorists who went through the checkpoint and said they plan to have another checkpoint in place in the near future.
