Family with 5 children gets Christmas surprise

On Wednesday night, a family in need was blessed with the spirit of Christmas.

Retailers at Westfield Palm Desert surprised the Davila family when they went to the mall for complimentary photos with Santa. Not only did their five children sit in for the photo shoot, but they were each given every item on their Christmas wish list, including a holiday tree.

Officials with the mall said the family has faced some economic challenges and the parents were about to tell their children they would have to put Christmas ‘on hold’ for the year.

The mother, Clarissa Davila, works part time for YMCA of the Desert and was overwhelmed with joy. “We thought we wouldn’t be able to make Christmas happen this year,” she said. Her four-year-old son, Leonardo, agreed, saying “I can’t believe how lucky we are.”

Some of the retailers that helped make this a Christmas to remember for the Davila family were Tilly’s, Mrs. Fields, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and Build-A-Bear.
