Coachella Valley Christmas Store spreads holiday cheer to families in need

Since 2004, the Coachella Valley Christmas Store has been spreading holiday cheer to many families in need.

“When they come to the store they are greeted by a personal shopper and they take them to get a family photo,” says Deanna Gibson, co-director of the store.

The store operates under the umbrella of the Narrow Door, a non-profit organization helping families year-round.

Hundreds of donations fill several rooms with toys at three store locations. Volunteers work countless hours to make sure families walk away with a smile on their face.

“We wouldn’t have anything, nothing at all, so it’s a blessing,” said Shirley Williams. Williams is one of the 1,500 families being served this year.

Besides the toys, families can also take a picture with Santa Claus and receive a box of food.

“We are so thankful for the community, we could not do this without their help to support the Coachella Valley Christmas Store,” said Gibson.
