Hiker Flown Out of Rancho Mirage Trail

A hiker was hurt on a steep mountain trail above Rancho Mirage on Sunday and was flown out, a fire spokesman said.

Firefighters received a 911 call at 8:56 a.m. about the hiker who was stranded on the Bump and Grind Trail. The hiker suffered an undisclosed medical emergency during the hike and was flown out to a hospital, Riverside County Fire Department spokesman Mark Annas said.

Annas would not specify what the medical emergency was, but said the hiker showed stable life signs.
