Border agents find over $66K worth of heroin on bus
El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents seized $66,780 worth of heroin inside an Americano bus traveling into the U.S. from Mexico on Sunday.
The discovery was made around 11:30 a.m. during a checkpoint on Highway 86, according to authorities.
Agents said a canine detection team alerted officers to the bus which led to a full inspection. They found three plastic wrapped packages of heroin hidden in a trash can near the restroom in the back of the bus.
Officers said no arrests have been made and the heroin was turned over to the DEA for further investigation.
