5 vehicles towed from Indio DUI checkpoint

No DUI’s were issued after a checkpoint was set up in Indio over the weekend, but 19 drivers were cited for either driving without a license or with a suspended license, according to police.

The checkpoint was set up on Saturday from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Fred Waring Drive and Madison Street.

A total of 446 vehicles went through the checkpoint and six drivers were tested for impairment; nobody was arrested for impairment. Five vehicles were towed from the scene after 19 drivers were cited for driving without a license or on a suspended license, police said.

Another checkpoint will be conducted in the near future.
