Man ID’d in Monday night’s shooting in Desert Hot Springs

The Desert Hot Springs Police Department is investigating after a 19-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night.

KESQ & CBS Local 2 confirmed the victim’s identity on Tuesday afternoon after speaking with his mother Khalihia Ellis. She said her son Darnaiel Patterson was shot and killed in the 66-300 block of Desert Avenue.

Police were called to the scene around 10:20 p.m. to investigate.

Patterson was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. The investigation is ongoing as police continue their search for the suspect.
