Motorcyclist killed in crash

A man was killed while riding his motorcycle on Twentynine Palms Highway around 10:15 p.m. Thursday after a car hit him from behind.

According to a release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the 59 year-old man was driving westbound near Wamego Trail in Yucca Valley when the crash occurred.

Deputies said a Dodge Charger, driven by Christopher Hannon, hit the motorcycle and then veered off the road and hit a light pole.

The motorcyclist, who hasn’t been identified yet, was pronounced dead at the crash site. The Morongo Basin Station’s Major Accident Investigation Team investigated the crash.

Hannon was later released, deputies didn’t say if he was injured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Deputy Greer at (760) 366-4175.
