Search continues for hit and run motorist in Bermuda Dunes

A 51-year-old Bermuda Dunes man was recovering Thursday morning after he was struck early Wednesday by a motorist in an SUV.

That motorist never stopped.

California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Radford said Larry Morris was walking east along thenorth shoulder of Country Club Drive, when he was struck just east of Adams Street.

The collision happened at approximately 3:45 a.m.

The suspect vehicle is described as a green, 1990s-model Ford Explorer.

Radford says the vehicle appears to have drifted onto the shoulder where it collided with Morris.

Morris suffered major injuries and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, Radford said.

Investigators were also hoping to review security videos from some nearby industrial businesses along the stretch of roadway just north of the Bermuda Dunes Airport.

The images might help identify the driver who remains wanted.

The Ford Explorer may have also suffered damage to its right front side.
