Dog treading water rescued from Indio canal
A dog was rescued from a canal early Thursday morning in Indio after an employee with the Coachella Valley Water District spotted the distressed German Shepherd treading water.
The employee reported the incident to Animal Control around 6:30 a.m.
Animal Control officers were able to pull the 3-year-old female out of the canal safely and she’s been resting comfortably at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms, according to officials.
Another good piece of news, the dog was microchipped so veterinarians are in contact with her owner. They said the owner is planning on picking her up sometime Thursday.
There was no word on what led to the dog becoming stuck in the canal.
News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will have more information about the rescue after we meet with Animal Control officers Thursday afternoon.
